The location of The Umbrella Bird is more than just a fabulous farmhouse full of unique and beautiful items. The house itself has been a part of the Star, Idaho, landscape since 1888. As the second house built in Star, this timeless property has rooted itself in for the long haul. Owned by the original family for years, the house then became a quaint bed and breakfast. Finally, it is now serving the community and surrounding areas as The Umbrella Bird.
With a love of home design and a BA in Art Education from Boise State University, Brooke Jones has used her knowledge of beauty paired with creative design to re-invent pieces of furniture, and give them new life with a hint of pizzaz. "I love beautiful things but usually have to find a creative way to get the same look: as my budget doesn’t allow for my champagne taste." Find it she did, and voila: Umbrella Bird was born. Currently located in Star, Id, Umbrella Bird now works with a group of people who, as Brooke states, "...love to give new life to old furnishings." This is a business with a passion for making old things new, and a love of home design that is completely inviting. Visit Umbrella Bird to not only find a fabulous piece to compliment your tastes, but also to enjoy the sense of community and love of all things made new... one paint stroke at a time.
"I’m Brooke…Owner of Umbrella Bird home furnishings store in Star, Idaho. My husband Jake and I have two awesome kids and live in Eagle, Idaho. I love decorating and transforming spaces. I devour every home decorating magazine that I can get my hands on and have baskets full at home. I just can’t toss them out, as they are great resources full of fabulous ideas. Nothing is junk in my eyes. I always find a way to repurpose or refinish an item into something completely new, and I’m heart sick when I see something tossed out. I’m known for slamming on my brakes for a yard sale sign, and for tracking down a good auction. It’s a lot of work…the hunt for great items…the transformation….but I love it! I can’t imagine doing anything else."
